What is Myopractics?
Myopractics — Latin for "muscle practice" — Focuses on relieving pain by releasing the restrictions in the muscles and other soft tissues first. This in turn allows the joints to move freely, and body can regain balance on its own.
To do this Myopractics integrates important aspects of muscle work blended with trigger point, structural integration as well as musculoskeletal manipulation. Also using deep muscle therapy, assisted stretching, and structural release to help restore the body’s balance and ultimately getting the body back into its natural state of comfort or range of motion.
Because Myopractics focuses on soft tissue and movement rather than putting the structure "back into place." The manipulations are gentle and non-traumatic. It can be approached with less anxiety, and makes for a great alternative for pain relief.
The Mechanics
This system of musculo-skeletal manipulation is reliant upon the implementation of deep tissue massage to prepare the areas for the release of restrictions. A restricted area will lead to diminished blood and nerve supply to that zone, so locking up the area and comprising the efficiency of the body as a whole. As related structures over extend to counterbalance the condition, the general vitality of the body is impaired and decreased.
An important premise of myopractics is that the pelvis is the foundation and weight-bearing centre of the body. It is the largest bony structure we have, and most of the body's weight is distributed through it. If there is a lack of movement here, the bone and muscle tissues will become restricted. This will force the body to shift weight-bearing function into the back, so creating uneven tension in an attempt to re-establish the previous posture. Once the structural integrity of the pelvis is restored, the rest of the body can be addressed and stabilised.
The myopractor uses a combination of visual assessment and physical touch to determine more information about the client's condition. Myopractics uses a non-traumatic form of dynamic manipulation as a foundational therapy, stretching, moving and levering limbs and body parts to attain the gentle release of restricted areas.
This gentle and relaxing therapy is recommended for a broad range of pain and complaints including:

- frozen shoulder
- carpal tunnel syndrome
- tennis elbow
- plantar fasciitis and foot pain
- coccyx and sacral dysfunction
- shin splints
- iliotibial band (ITB) issues
- chondromalacia patella
- knee pain
